Villanova Men’s Basketball is in the mix for Cornell rising senior Jake Fiegen, who finished second on the Big Red with an average of 17.1 points per game, per a report from Joe Tipton of On3.

Because the Ivy League doesn’t permit athletic scholarships and limits the potential for Name, Image and Likeness earnings, many athletes attempt to complete their degree in three years before hitting the transfer portal and cashing in during their final season. While the portal won’t officially open until April 7, players can announce their intention to transfer ahead of time, giving their agents an opportunity to start shopping around.

Tipton’s report said that Fiegen’s agents are in closest contact with Northwestern, DePaul, Ohio State, Indiana, Wake Forest and Vanderbilt in addition to Villanova. Fiegen stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 205 pounds. He made 67.6 percent of his shots from two-point range and 41.4 percent of threes this season, taking a near-equal amount of both. Fiegen also averaged 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

The Big Red played with one of the fastest tempos in the nation and averaged 88.5 points per game during the 2025-26 season, but they also struggled to stop shots themselves. Given his success in a high-usage system on a middle-of-the-pack team, there’s some concern about how Fiegen could adjust to the upper echelons of the sport, but the Big East will always hold a place for tall, athletic guards capable of getting to the rim.

An Illinois native, Northwestern and DePaul could have an inside edge in recruiting Fiegen.

Villanova has at least five spots to fill on their roster heading into the 2026-27 season: here’s a quick rundown of the state of their roster.
