ESPN Top 50 recruit and former Villanova commit Dante Allen elected to reopen his recruiting following the Wildcats’ firing of Kyle Neptune in March 2025.

Now the legacy recruit, whose father suited up for the Wildcats from 1996 to 2000, will take his talents to the University of Miami, per a report from Sam Kayser of recruiting site League Ready. Allen signed his national letter of intent to play with the Wildcats in November 2024. After reopening his recruiting, Allen said that he would keep Villanova on the table depending on the head coach they brought in. Instead, the Hurricanes made a concerted push, hosting Allen for an official visit over the weekend of April 11.

New Wildcats’ head coach Kevin Willard never got a chance to bring Allen on campus… or elected to look elsewhere to fill the six spots currently open on Villanova’s roster ahead of next season. The four-star recruit didn’t receive an offer from the Terrapins during his initial recruiting cycle.

Allen is a 6-foot-4, 210 pound combo guard who boasts a 6-foot-7 wingspan, a threat on both ends of the court who averaged 21.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 3.4 steals per game as a junior. Prior to Willard taking over, Allen was the only Villanova recruit in the class of 2025: they’ve since flipped Chris Jeffrey from Maryland and will host Bosnian wing Harun Zrno later this month. Coincidentally, Zrno will also visit Miami during his trip stateside.
