Villanova Adds More Shooting With Combo Guard Darryl “Buddy” Simmons II
Villanova Men’s Basketball added another shooter on Monday, April 20, with St. Bonaventure transfer guard Darryl “Buddy” Simmons II committing per a report from Dushawn London of 247Sports. Simmons confirmed the report with an Instagram post.
Simmons put up 16.4 points and 2.8 assists per game for the Bonnies last season and has one season of eligibility remaining. He stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 175 pounds. Simmons took 221 of 453 (48.8 percent) of shots from three last season, cashing in 42.5 percent of the time. A three-dimensional scorer, he can also knock down midrange shots and get to the rim.
Listed as a combo guard out of high school, Simmons racks up twice as many assists as he does turnovers: his ability to fit in at both guard spots will give the Wildcats valuable depth at point guard, although they could still look for a dedicated backup at the one.
Villanova will have a glut of shooters next season: Simmons joins transfer Jake Fiegen, returning starter Matt Hodge and incoming freshman Adam Oumiddoch. His addition means the Wildcats have seven spots open on their roster heading into the 2026-27 campaign.
