Villanova Earns Commitment of Cornell Sniper Jake Fiegen
Villanova Men’s Basketball added one of the Ivy League’s top scorers on Saturday, April 18, with former Cornell shooting guard Jake Fiegen announcing his commitment in an Instagram post. He paid a campus visit to the Wildcats earlier this week and chose them over a top four of Northwestern, Vanderbilt and Virginia.
The 6-foot-4, 205 pound senior has one season of eligibility remaining and leaves the Wildcats with nine spots to fill on their roster ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. Fiegen averaged 17.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the Big Red last year, knocking down 54.6 percent of shots from the field. He also converted on 41.4 percent of three-point attempts, taking 133 of 269 shots from beyond the arc.
Fiegen earned All-Ivy honors for both the regular season and the league tournament, putting up 23 points in Cornell’s season-ending loss to Yale. His addition gives the Wildcats plenty of talent on the wing: Matt Hodge, Tyler Perkins, incoming freshman Adam Oumiddoch and transfer pickup Devin Royal could all play at the two or the three next season. Given Perkins’ likely hold on a starting spot, Fiegen might serve as the sixth man, especially if Hodge’s recovery from an ACL tear eats into his regular season.
Now that they have a shooter, Villanova needs to find their next starting point guard and center: they also have plenty of room to fill out their bench.
