Phillies affiliates went 3-1 on Wednesday, April 22 with a series of top prospects getting on base early and often for Double-A Reading. Infielder Carson DeMartini went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and flashed his sneaky speed, adding a stolen base in the Fightin Phils’ 4-2 win. Dante Nori legged out a triple, organizational top ten prospect Aroon Escobar went 1-for-3 with a walk and a steal, and Alex Binelas cleared the fences for the second game in a row.

The Fightin Phils still needed a save from Alex McFarlane, who fanned one batter in a scoreless frame.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley won 4-1, catcher Caleb Ricketts going 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Much of the rest of the production came from career minor leaguers or fringe big league backups.

High-A Jersey Shore suffered the lone loss. 2024 17th round pick Ryan Degges gave up six runs (five earned) in 2.2 innings of work; Brandon Beckel tried to right the ship with 3.1 innings of one-run ball, but the BlueClaws couldn’t dig out of their early hole. Shortstop Jose Colmenares went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, raising his batting average and OPS to .391 and 1.043, respectively, on the season.

The Clearwater Threshers won 5-3; catcher Alirio Ferrebus homered, center fielder Matt Humphreys hit two singles and shortstop Juan Villavicencio drew two walks.

2025 Phillies draft picks Cody Bowker (third round, Vanderbilt) and Tyler Bowen (12th round) each starred. Bowker allowed one hit over three innings, fanning seven batters, while Bowen struck out two in a scoreless save.
