Phillies 2025 first round pick Gage Wood put together the longest start of his professional career on Tuesday, June 30, pitching five innings for Double-A Reading. Wood fanned six batters on 70 pitches, allowing two earned runs. He’s stayed on a strict pitch count this season as the Phillies try to ease him into the rigors of professional baseball — Wood dealt with a shoulder injury while at Arkansas last season — so this could mark an important stage in his development.

The Fightin Phils won 9-6, Bryan Rincon, Raylin Heredia, Kehden Hettiger and Pedro León all hitting homers. Hettiger added a double and reliever Alex McFarlane earned a five out save, striking out one batter and allowing two runs.

Paul McIntosh and Dylan Carlson each singled and homered for Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a 6-4 win; Keaton Anthony and Otto Kemp also reached base twice.

High-A Jersey Shore lost 6-1, Cody Bowker tagged with the loss despite five innings of two-run ball. Bowker fanned five batters on 68 pitches; Nick Biddison and Kodey Shojinaga added doubles.

Single-A Clearwater rounded out the slate with a 5-4 loss. Lefty Cade Obermueller went four innings, allowing one earned run. He walked as many batters as he struck out (four) and let another run cross on his own error during an attempted pickoff.

Jonathan Hogart and Alirio Ferrebus (2-for-3) led the offense with doubles, and Griffin Burkholder singled and walked.
