Phillies Prospect Watch: Cade Obermueller Dices Up Tarpons

Phillies affiliates went 2-2 on Sunday, July 12, sending themselves to the All-Star Break with an excellent outing from 2025 second round pick Cade Obermueller. Single-A Clearwater lost 3-0 despite the lefty’s efforts: he struck out six and allowed just two hits in four innings. Although he racked up strikeouts, Obermueller needed just 48 pitches to complete his day, mowing through 13 batters efficiently.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley pummeled Columbus 13-5. Otto Kemp concluded his red-hot week with another home run; Steward Berroa (2-for-2 with three walks) and Carter Kieboom also cleared the fences. Double-A Reading lost 5-3, with right-hander Gabriel Barbosa allowing four runs (three earned) in three innings. The Fightin Phils didn’t log any extra base hits: outfielder/designated hitter Raylin Heredia led the way with four singles and a walk.

High-A Jersey Shore won 10-6 behind two-hiker games from center fielder Carter Mathison and 27-year-old first baseman Brandon Lewis, the latter of whom went 4-for-4 and finished a triple shy of the cycle; Nick Biddison also left the yard. Right-hander Tanner Gresham endured his worst start since joining the BlueClaws, roughed up for five runs (four earned) in 3.2 innings.

The All-Star Break will conclude on Friday, July 17.
