Villanova Wildcats junior guard Wade Chiddick

This is one in a series of stories introducing the Villanova Wildcats’ 2024-25 roster.

Wade Chiddick offered his services to Villanova Men’s Basketball during his sophomore season, serving as a member of the Wildcats’ practice squad after spending four years as a letterman right in Villanova’s backyard at Westtown High School.

The preparatory boarding school has produced NBA talents like Mo Bamba, Cam Reddish and Dereck Lively II, the latter of whom was a high school teammate of Chiddick’s.

The Wildcats faced dire straits at guard entering the 2024-25 season, returning just two players at the position… one of them being fellow walk-on Collin O’Toole. While Villanova managed to reinvigorate the position group, adding five new guards via high school recruiting and the transfer portal, but head coach Kyle Neptune also afforded Chiddick an active roster spot as part of his efforts to overhaul the roster.

Wade Chiddick has four years of eligibility remaining, including this year. That said, he has yet to appear in a game for the Wildcats this season, so he could end up taking a redshirt. Chiddick stands 6-foot-4 and tips the scale at 200 pounds, coming off the bench during his time at Westtown… although that’s not exactly a knock considering he took the court with at least one future NBA lottery pick.

With O’Toole, a senior, currently serving as Villanova’s reserve option during blowouts, it’ll be interesting to see when Chiddick manages to make his way into game action for the Wildcats.
