Villanova Offers Two 2028 Backcourt Prospects Ranked in Top 30
Villanova Men’s Basketball continued their aggressive recruiting strategy for the class of 2028 with offers to four-star prospects Tai Bell and Kevin Wheatley Jr., per announcements to their social media accounts.
Bell ranks as one of the top point guards in his class, a 6-foot-3, 200 pound rising junior who averaged more than 30 points per game last season and has ‘warm’ interest in Florida State and Houston, per 247Sports. He’s also planning on taking a visit to Kentucky in the fall and holds offers from close to two dozen Division I programs, Pitt, Auburn, Virginia, Kansas State and Ole Miss among them. ESPN ranks Bell as the No. 24 player in his class.
The son of NBA veteran Raja Bell, Tai Bell was born toward the end of his father’s professional career. Even so, he has an invaluable resource as he learns more about the game, a critical advantage at point guard.
Wheatley is a 6-foot-6, 200 pound wing who slots in just behind Bell at No. 30 on the ESPN rankings. He averaged 15.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game as a freshman, making 36.6 percent of his three-point shots.
Wheatley’s combination of athleticism and shooting make him a prospect to watch, and he could continue to grow over the next two seasons while preparing for Division I. Villanova will need to outcompete schools like West Virginia, Seton Hall, Rutgers and Georgia Tech — among others — for Wheatley’s talent.
