Phillies Prospect Watch: Potential Call-Ups Stashed in Triple-A

Triple-A Lehigh Valley blew a late lead and lost 8-7 in ten innings. Former big leaguers like Bryan De La Cruz (3-for-5 with a homer and a double), Dylan Carlson (2-for-4 with two doubles and a walk) and Liover Peguero (2-for-3 with a double and two walks) powered the IronPigs’ offense.

While they don’t have the ceiling that younger prospects might, those steady performers could give the big league bench a boost as the summer slog sets in.

Double-A Reading allowed just two hits in a 3-0 shutout win. Braydon Tucker got things going with seven innings on 93 pitches, striking out just three batters as he pitched to contact; Alex McFarlane — who spoke with Philadelphia Sports Now last week about his red-hot start to the season — continued to shove with a clean ninth inning.

First baseman Bryson Ware homered and shortstop Bryan Rincon went 2-for-4 with a double; catcher Kehden Hettiger drew a pair of walks.

High-A Jersey Shore lost 2-1; right-hander Reese Dutton notched a quality start, allowing two runs and striking out seven over six innings, but got saddled with the loss. Joel Dragoo and Tyler Pettorini each walked twice; outfielder Devin Saltiban singled, and a barrage of one-base advances weren’t enough for the BlueClaws to overcome the deficit.

Elsewhere in the Phillies system, Single-A Clearwater saw their game rained out. The rookie ball and Dominican Summer League seasons are also underway after the calendar flipped to June.
