Villanova Women’s Basketball began recruiting 2028 combo guard Riley Schellhammer after her freshman year of high school, offering her in June 2025. Their efforts paid off on Tuesday, April 28 when Schellhammer announced her commitment to the Wildcats in an Instagram post.

Schellhammer’s caption read “when you know, you know,” a testament to the bond she felt with the Wildcats from early on in her recruiting.

Standing 5-foot-9, Schellhammer receives top marks for her physicality, shooting and ball-handling ability. She also isn’t afraid to rebound and plays physical defense, making her a natural fit for Big East play who displays promising tendencies early. With two years remaining in her high school career, Schellhammer could rocket up recruiting boards before landing on the Main Line.

Villanova missed out on another top recruiting target, 2027 wing Sydney Marshall, who committed to Georgia Tech on April 27. Another rising star, the Wildcats offered Marshall in August 2025.
