Villanova Recruiting: Transfers Clear Way for Adam Oumiddoch
Villanova Men’s Basketball has just one commit in the class of 2026, 6-foot-5 shooting guard Adam Oumiddoch… and with the team’s recent transfer portal announcements, the four-star recruit’s role next season just became clearer.
Head coach Kevin Willard maintained throughout the 2025-26 season that in recruiting top talents, he needs to make sure they’ll have playing time: in an era of free-for-all transfers and NIL deals, Willard needs to make commitment on his end clear from day one. As such, expect a major role for Oumiddoch from day one. Perhaps more important, losing players like shooting guard Bryce Lindsay opens the door for a more consistent role for Oumiddoch. While he’s several inches taller than Lindsay, Oumiddoch fits a similar profile.
They’re both scoring-focused off guards who have passing and driving upside but fit best on the perimeter: Oumiddoch has a better layup package than Lindsay and attacks the paint more: Lindsay took 63.5 percent of shots from three last season, while Oumiddoch attempted just 42.6 percent of shots from beyond the arc as a high school senior, but he could adjust his shot profile as he adapts to NCAA basketball.
Positional Jockeying
Another interesting factor for Oumiddoch is how he’ll fit in when rising redshirt sophomore Matt Hodge, reportedly expected to return to Villanova, makes it back from an ACL surgery. Hodge went under the knife in early March and, with an expected minimum recovery time of eight to nine months, there’s a decent chance Hodge misses regular season games. While the 6-foot-8 Wildcat ostensibly plays forward, he took two-thirds of his shots from three last season and seldom rotated down into the paint outside of dedicated small-ball lineups.
Once Hodge is healthy, the Wildcats might be better suited playing him as a stretch four if they want both players on the court at the same time. While rising senior Tyler Perkins is shorter than Oumiddoch, he’s roughly 20 pounds heavier: that stouter frame means Perkins probably fits better at the three, using his physicality to slash inside. As Oumiddoch adds weight and strength over the course of his college career, he could grow into a legitimate three-man.
Incoming transfers will also help clear up future Villanova personnel groupings.
