Villanova recruiting target Adam Oumiddoch announced his college choice on Wednesday, Nov. 12, choosing Big East foe St. John’s over a top five of the Wildcats, Illinois, LSU and Oregon. Oumiddoch marks the latest in a series of top recruits to rank Villanova among their premium choices but ultimately decide to take their talents elsewhere: others include Alex Egbuono, who also chose a Big East opponent, Radnor native Luca Foster, and 6-foot-7 wing Chase Foster.

ESPN ranks Oumiddoch, a 6-foot-6 guard averaging more than 30 points per game with Atlanta’s Overtime Elite prep league this season, as the No. 35 recruit in the class of 2026.

Part of the Wildcats’ recruiting struggles might stem from the fact that they don’t have too many minutes to promise for incoming recruits. Head coach Kevin Willard did that intentionally in approaching the transfer portal over the offseason, aiming for players he could develop over a number of years. Other than Devin Askew and Duke Brennan, everyone in Villanova’s lineup has eligibility remaining next season, and many top recruits want to go to a school where they know they can start from day one: that’s what brought Acaden Lewis from Kentucky to the Main Line.

Currently without any commits in the upcoming class, Villanova could pick up some supplementary recruits as the season goes on, or look to the transfer portal to fill out their roster heading into next season.
