Villanova Men’s Basketball missed out on four-star power forward Chase Foster, the No. 39 prospect in the class of 2026 according to ESPN, as the 6-foot-7 senior committed to the University of Pittsburgh in a live ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Foster, a Baltimore native, had ties to Villanova’s coaching staff reaching back to February of 2024. At the time, Wildcats’ head coach Kevin Willard and much of his staff were with the Maryland Terrapins, so they began to recruit the talented forward growing up in their backyard.

When Willard and company moved to the Main Line, they continued to reach out to Foster, giving him an offer in July 2025. The Wildcats made the top five for Foster along with Pitt, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

As of right now, Villanova Men’s Basketball doesn’t have any commitments in the coming years. 11 of their 14 players have more than one season of eligibility remaining, so that isn’t a problem for the moment — Willard emphasized recruiting younger players he can build around in approaching the transfer portal this offseason — but it’s a situation to monitor regardless.
