In a recurring recent theme, Villanova Men’s Basketball picked up their best win of the season on Tuesday, Dec. 23, taking down the Seton Hall Pirates 64-56 in a game they led by as much as 20 points in the second half.

The win gives Villanova (10-2, 1-0 Big East) their first in a Quadrant 1 game this season, and a very real chance of landing in the AP Poll’s Top 25 next Monday. After three straight seasons without an NCAA Tournament appearance and with a new coaching staff and roster, the Wildcats needed to earn the benefit of the doubt from fans, media and, most importantly, the selection committee that controls who earns an at-large bid.

Villanova still has 19 games to play in their Big East schedule, so it’s far too early to book any travel plans for March, but there’s a palpable buzz around the Wildcats right now, a feeling sorely missed during the Kyle Neptune era.

After the win, head coach Kevin Willard told the media that he likes how his team is flying under the radar right now.

“We’re trending in the right direction, and I like the fact that no one is really talking about us,” Willard said… but with the way his team is playing, and to judge the social media reaction, the Wildcats are a trendy team right now. Here’s what they had to say.
