Villanova Men’s Basketball Heads To Sunny San Diego For NCAA Tournament
Villanova Men’s Basketball earned a No. 8 seed in their return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022, setting them up to play No. 9 seed Utah State in the West region of the bracket on Friday, March 20.
The Wildcats (24-8) finished as the No. 3 team in the Big East during their first season under head coach Kevin Willard. Although they suffered an ugly upset loss to No. 11 seed Georgetown in their conference tournament opener, Villanova didn’t slide too far down the bracket: most projections ranked them as a No. 7 or No. 8 seed prior to the loss.
The Wildcats will play without starter Matt Hodge, who went down with an ACL tear on Feb. 28, an injury that will limit their overall ceiling. Utah State (28-6) won the Mountain West this season and holds the No. 26 spot in the NET rankings, nine spots better than Villanova. The Aggies went 4-4 in Quadrant 1 matchups this season.
Villanova Women’s Basketball will learn their NCAA Tournament seed during the women’s selection show at 8 p.m. on March 15. Penn Men’s Basketball also punched their ticket after winning the Ivy League tournament in overtime.
