Villanova in the Pros: Eric Dixon Catching On in Memphis
After joining the Memphis Grizzlies’ G-League affiliate via trade, Villanova alumnus Eric Dixon is scoring in bunches, nearly doubling his point totals from the first half of the season.
A 6-foot-7 forward, Dixon is averaging 22.5 points per game with the Memphis Hustle, making 32.9 percent of three-point shots and 45.5 percent of his attempts overall. He’s also averaging 6.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Dixon erupted for 48 points during the Hustle’s March 15 game against the Mexico City Capitanes, scoring 48 points with seven rebounds, two assists and six threes made.
Already 25 years old, Dixon’s age and a perceived lack of athleticism combined to make him fall out of the 2025 NBA Draft. Injuries derailed his Summer League campaign, further impacting his ability to catch on with an NBA roster, but after establishing himself as one of the Hustle’s top scoring options, Dixon could play his way into NBA attention before long. Fellow Villanova product Tyler Burton received a call-up to the Grizzlies earlier this month as Memphis deals with a rash of injuries, another potential opportunity for Dixon.
Dixon cemented himself as Villanova Men’s Basketball’s all-time leading scorer last season, leading the nation in points per game in his sixth and final season on the Main Line, a rare degree of loyalty in this era of college athletics.
