Villanova Forward Eric Dixon Makes All-Big East First Team

Villanova forward Eric Dixon leads the Big East — and the entire nation — in scoring with an average of 23.6 points per game. As such, it’s no surprise that he earned a unanimous All-Big East First Team selection on Sunday, March 9 along with Ryan Kalkbrenner (Creighton), RJ Luis Jr. and Zuby Ejiofor (St. John’s), Kam Jones (Marquette), and Micah Peavy (Georgetown).
The 6-foot-8, 265 pound power forward remains in the running for a bevy of national awards as well. Along with Dixon, Kalkbrenner, Luis Jr. and Jones earned unanimous selections.
After earning second team All-Big East selections in 2023 and 2024, Dixon unlocked a new dimension to his game ahead of his final season with Villanova, becoming a bona fide sharpshooter from three-point range. Dixon’s 42.92 percent success rate from beyond the arc ranks No. 17 in the NCAA. What’s more, it’s not for lack of trying, as his 91 threes made is tied for the No. 36 spot.
With five thirty point games on the season, Dixon has put the Wildcats on his back time and again, a big reason why they managed to remain in the tournament picture even after a bevy of disheartening losses. The 24-year-old has scored 2,208 points in his Villanova career, good for third all time behind Kerry Kittles (2,243) and Scottie Reynolds (2,222). With at least one game remaining against Seton Hall, and an excellent chance of at least one more after that should the Wildcats advance, there’s an excellent chance Dixon finishes his career on the Main Line as Villanova’s all-time scoring leader.
Fellow Wildcat Wooga Poplar also earned an All-Big East selection, checking in on the Third Team after posting 14.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.
