Villanova Forward Eric Dixon Continues to Rack Up Honors

Villanova forward Eric Dixon, who leads the nation in points scored per game (23.5) and has the highest three-point percentage (43.27) of any forward in Division 1, continues to receive honors for his standout season.
Earlier this year Dixon made the midseason Top 5o for the Wooden Award, and he’s also in the mix for the Oscar Robertson Award, both of which go to the most outstanding player in college basketball for a given season. Dixon also landed on the watch list for the Karl Malone Award, given to the best power forward in Division 1, and projects as a second round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
As the season goes on, the list of players with a chance at these awards begins to slim down as tiers of talent begin to form, and that’s exactly what happened for Dixon, who now ranks among the Top 20 on the shortlist for the Wooden Award. Next on the list for Dixon is the Naismith Player of the Year Award — similar in level of prestige to the Wooden and Oscar Robertson Awards, but issued by a different committee — where he landed on the midseason Top 30 team.
Those three awards typically go to the same player, and Dixon would become just the second Villanova player to complete that feat, following Jalen Brunson, who did so in 2018.
Eric Dixon currently ranks fifth all-time on Villanova’s scoring leaderboard with 2,063 points. With at least seven games to go in the Wildcats’ season, he stands a real chance of supplanting Kerry Kittles (2,243) at the No. 1 spot.
