Villanova Football enters the 2025 season with exciting young talents like sophomores Jayvont Williams and Anthony Hawkins ready to step in at safety, challenging trusty veterans like senior Christian Sapp for playing time.

Per the Wildcats’ roster, those three are expected to compete for the two starting safety spots. While both Williams (6-foot-1, 205 pounds) and Sapp (six feet tall, 195 pounds) played in 12 games last season, Sapp was the only one of the three to log significant statistics, racking up 23 tackles, a tackle for loss and an interception.

Nevertheless, with another year of experience under their belts, the younger guys could enjoy breakout seasons. Williams’ father, Brandon, hung on in the NFL and CFL as a cornerback for the better part of seven seasons after going undrafted out of Michigan, giving his son an excellent resource to lean on as he hones his craft. Hawkins, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 195 pounds, picked up a First Team All-State nod in his native Maryland, a testament to his athletic ability.

Josh Oluremi, a 6-foot-3, 200 pound junior who missed all of 2024 but appeared in ten games the previous season; Kaleb Moody, a 5-foot-10, 200 pound graduate student who appeared in 14 games as a reserve after transferring from Harvard, and 6-foot-3, 210 pound senior Garrett Rogan, who played sparingly in 2024 and will likely work his way onto the field via special teams, should all end up in the mix for playing time.
