No game? No problem. Although they’re one of just ten Division I football teams who haven’t yet played a game this season, Villanova Football made the Top 15 in a pair of polls following Week 1 of the college football season.

The Wildcats landed at No. 13 in the Stats Perform preseason poll back in July and remained there, while they managed to climb up one spot to No. 12 in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll. Picked to finish third in the CAA’s preseason coaches poll, Villanova Football currently holds the second best ranking of any team in the conference.

Rhode Island occupies the top spot at No. 9 per Stats Perform and No. 8 per the AFCA, while Monmouth, picked to finish ahead of the Wildcats in the CAA poll, checks in at No. 21 and No. 18, respectively. Other CAA teams receiving votes include New Hampshire, Stony Brook, the University of Albany and William & Mary.

Looking to make the FCS Tournament for the third season running, the Wildcats will open their season at home against Colgate on Saturday, Sept. 6 with the kickoff time set for 6 p.m.
