Villanova Football Juggles Spots in FCS Polls

Villanova Football juggled spots in the FCS polls published on Monday, Sept. 21, checking in at No. 22 in the Stats Perform poll and No. 23 in the coaches poll.

The Wildcats (2-2, 1-1 Patriot League) landed at No. 23 and No. 22, respectively, last week. They continue to search for an identity on both sides of the ball, struggling to a 20-16 road win over a winless Long Island team on Sept. 19. Villanova trailed 16-13 with under three minutes to play, but managed to save themselves with a touchdown reception from Ja’briel Mace.

Through four weeks, the Wildcats’ three winnable games — their road duel with a Top 25 Louisville game would’ve needed a historic upset — have all come down to the final minutes. They followed a similar trajectory last season before reeling off 11 straight wins, and only time will tell if this Wildcats’ team has a similar ceiling.
