2025 Villanova commit Chris Jeffrey joins the Wildcats as something of an unknown quantity. The 6-foot-3, 200 pound combo guard didn’t make it on ESPN’s list of the Top 100 prospects in his class, although he likely just missed the cut: the Worldwide Leader in Sports gave him a prospect grade of 81, while the last 20 players on the top 100 list all graded at 82.

247Sports, however, rates Jeffrey as a four-star recruit and the No. 70 player in his class, a late addition to the list: he skyrocketed up their rankings in January 2025 after averaging more than 24 points and eight rebounds per game to that point in the season at Maryland’s Mt. Zion Prep. On3 likes Jeffrey even better, listing him as the No. 57 player in his class, while Rivals and ESPN weigh his overall ranking down to No. 139.

On the Court

Originally a Maryland commit, Jeffrey followed new Villanova head coach Kevin Willard to the Main Line. Listed as a combo guard, Jeffrey displays solid handles and excellent passing vision, but right now he won’t translate as a point guard at the collegiate level. He leads with his right hand the vast majority of the time, almost always switching back to his dominant side after a quick crossover.

However, Jeffrey’s passing vision is there, and his speed and athleticism allow him to drive into the paint with furious intent, collapsing the lane before kicking back outside. Think of him as a wing with versatile upside and room to grow. The physicality and motor that aid Jeffrey in the paint help him on the defensive end, and depending how Willard prioritizes defensive contributions, could serve as his ticket into the lineup early on.

There’s plenty of room for Chris Jeffrey to grow, but his rising stock and projectible traits make him a tantalizing prospect to follow.
