Villanova Building Ties With 2029 Guard Prospects
Villanova Men’s Basketball is starting to prepare for the 2029-30 season, courting rising sophomore prospects like guard BJ Williams and point guard Harlem McNeal. Nova Alerts posted about both planned visits; college basketball insider Adam Zagoria corroborated the report on Williams, who recently earned an offer from Penn, while McNeal confirmed the report about him with a retweet.
Williams will make an unofficial visit to Villanova’s campus on Tuesday, May 12; he attended Gloucester Catholic High School in Gloucester City, N.J., just across the Walt Whitman bridge from Philadelphia, as a freshman. A 6-foot-3 combo guard, Williams averaged just over ten points and four rebounds (and just under two assists) per game as a true freshman.
McNeal checks in at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds; he’ll attend Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey for his sophomore season after spending a year out in California, where he flashed his scoring and playmaking ability from the first moments of his high school career. Perhaps more intriguing — especially at a position like point guard, where intelligence and experience come at a premium — McNeal’s uncle, Allan Houston, enjoyed a 12-year NBA career and made a pair of All-Star teams.
With those bona fides and three more seasons to develop, McNeal could turn into a legitimate superstar as his high school career continues.
