Villanova guards Bryce Lindsay and Jasmine Bascoe landed on their respective men’s and women’s Big East honor rolls after scoring and bunches during the first week of the college basketball season.

Lindsay led the conference in scoring with an average of 23.5 points per game, going off for 22 points off the bench against BYU before netting 25 more against Queens in his first game at the Finneran Pavilion. His performance against the Cougars prompted head coach Kevin Willard to substitute him into the starting five over veteran point guard Devin Askew. Lindsay added four rebounds, two assists and 0.5 steals per game.

Bascoe averaged 19 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists across three games, standing on her head to drop 30 points in a loss to Fairfield before leading Villanova in scoring against VCU. That game took place in Bascoe’s native Ontario.

Freshman Brooke Bender also took home some hardware, winning the Philadelphia Big 5’s Rookie of the Week award after finishing in double digit scoring twice. Bender made six of 11 three-point shots on the week.
