Villanova Women’s Basketball earned a No. 10 seed and will return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2023, facing No. 7 seed Texas Tech in Baton Rouge, La. on Friday, March 20.

The Wildcats (25-7) finished second in the Big East, falling to national No. 1 seed UConn in the conference championship game. Despite knocking off a ranked West Virginia team on their home court in early December, Villanova earned little national respect during a down year for the conference. Even so, most projections had the Wildcats finishing in the realm of a No. 8 seed.

Head coach Denise Dillon said after the Selection Show that even if the committee gave them a No. 7 seed, the Wildcats would still have played a team like Texas Tech in the opening round: results on the court matter more than the number next to their name does.

No. 2 seed LSU will host the tournament’s opening weekend in Villanova‘s sector of the bracket.
