Phillies Prospect Watch: Homers Aplenty in Double-A as Bowker Shoves

Phillies affiliates went 1-2 on Wednesday, Aug. 26, with a barrage of homers in the lone win.

Shortstop Bryan Rincon (2-for-3), center fielder Pedro León (2-for-4 with a double) and Aroon Escobar (1-for-4) did the honors; Carson DeMartini went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk but committed an error and got caught trying to steal second base.

Cody Bowker continued his strong start with the Fightin Phils, firing five innings of one-run ball. Bowker struck out four batters on 70 pitches and allowed three hits, including a solo home run. Mavis Graves struck out two batters on 15 pitches during a perfect inning in relief, Wen-Hui Pan got tagged for a solo homer and righty Christian McGowan closed the game out with two strikeouts and two perfect innings. 

Triple-A Lehigh Valley lost 11-1, right fielder Gabriel Rincones Jr. (3-for-4 with a homer) generating most of the offense. High-A Jersey Shore lost 11-6. Outfielder Devin Saltiban (2-for-4 with a double and a walk) knocked in three runs; shortstop Juan Villavicencio (1-for-3 with two walks) also made it on base three times. 

Griffin Burkholder, who has struggled since promotion to the BlueClaws, slashing .184/.323/.184 in 21 games, singled and walked. Single-A Clearwater played into the fourth inning before their game was suspended due to rain. The Threshers trailed 3-0 at the time: starter Brad Pacheco fanned six batters on 52 pitches but struggled with walks and contact.
