Phillies Prospect Watch: Gage Wood Fans a Career-High Nine

Phillies prospects went 1-2 on Sunday, July 19, with 2025 first round pick Gage Wood racking up nine strikeouts and no walks in four innings. Wood, who appeared in the All-Star Futures Game the week prior, allowed two runs but needed just 59 pitches to complete his day. Here’s a video of Wood’s career day.

Double-A Reading went on to hit four home runs in a 10-6 win, including two from Pedro León and one each from Alex Binelas — who hit his 20th of the year — and catcher Caleb Ricketts.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley amassed 14 hits and six walks but lost 12-9. Shortstop Robert Moore hit two home runs and right fielder Bryan De La Cruz hit two doubles. Six other IronPigs reached base at least twice, but the pitching staff took a beating.

High-A Jersey Shore lost 10-6 after a rough outing from starter Reese Dutton, while Single-A Clearwater’s game was postponed due to inclement weather. The day prior, Threshers’ left-handed starter Cade Obermueller struck out five batters in four innings, allowing one run on 77 pitches.
