Phillies Prospect Watch: Burkholder, Saltiban Flash Their Versatility
Phillies affiliates went 2-2 on Wednesday, Aug. 12, with Griffin Burkholder and Devin Saltiban showing off their versatility in a win for the BlueClaws.
High-A Jersey Shore survived an 11 inning thriller, winning 4-3. Cody Bowker allowed one run in five innings, striking out three batters on 70 pitches.
Burkholder walked, singled and stole three bases, Saltiban hit two singles and cut a runner down at the plate with his throw from right, Juan Villavicencio drew a pair of free passes, and third baseman Robert Phelps singled, stole a base and walked twice.
Triple-A Lehigh Valley won 11-3, a grand slam from Paul McIntosh powering a seven-run first inning. Keaton Anthony added a three-run blast, and Otto Kemp (2-for-3 with a double, triple and walk) and Gabriel Rincones Jr. (2-for-4 with a double and a walk) also starred. Drake Fellows covered seven innings on 89 pitches, allowing three runs in a quality start.
Double-A Reading lost 3-2 despite an eighth inning comeback bid. Left fielder Raider Tello logged a double, the Fightin Phils’ only extra base hit, while Carson DeMartini notched a single and a walk. Wen-Hui Pan put up a scoreless inning in relief, extending his clean streak to five appearances.
Single-A Clearwater lost 6-5 via walkoff, pulling ahead in the top of the ninth before blowing the game in the home half. Starter Cole Gilley, the Phillies’ 2025 tenth round pick, pitched four innings and gave up two unearned runs as a result of an error at third base. 2026 16th round pick Matt Quintanar singled twice, second round pick Caden Bogenpohl singled and drew two walks, and tenth round pick Reece Moroney drew three free passes.
