Villanova Men’s Basketball issued a pair of injury updates ahead of the 2026-27 season, per an Oct. 7 report from Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. Senior guard Tyler Perkins is fully cleared to return to basketball activities after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, while redshirt sophomore forward Matt Hodge “continues to progress, but has no timetable for a return.”

Hodge tore his ACL against St. John’s in late February and underwent surgery soon thereafter: ligament reconstruction can take anywhere between six months and a year for a full recovery. The operation has improved greatly in recent years, so most athletes take about nine months to return to action. That would put Hodge in line to return around the time Villanova’s Big East schedule begins in mid-December… but with no timetable yet, the Wildcats might miss him for longer.
