St. Joseph’s Prep alumnus and current Division 1 middle linebacker Josiah Trotter has found his new home, announcing his decision to transfer to Missouri on Sunday, Dec. 16.

The son of former NFL linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Sr., who spent eight seasons of his 12 year playing career with the Philadelphia Eagles (and the brother of Jeremiah Jr., who played three years at Clemson and got drafted in the fifth round by the Eagles this past April), Josiah Trotter spent his first two seasons with West Virginia, whom he chose over offers from Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, and Penn State, among others. He hit the transfer portal soon after the Mountaineers fired head coach Neal Brown on Dec. 1, and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Transfer to the Tigers

Trotter joins a Tigers team that spent several weeks ranked inside the top ten in the AP Top 25 poll this past season, concluding the regular season at No. 23 with a 9-3 record in the prestigious SEC. Missouri has done an excellent job of developing middle linebackers in recent years, with Nick Bolton and Ty’Ron Hopper both receiving Day 2 selections in the NFL Draft.

During his time at St. Joe’s, Trotter won a trio of state championships, cementing his place as one of the top players in the state of Pennsylvania. After an offseason leg injury forced him to take a redshirt year in 2023, Trotter played in each of the Mountaineers’ 12 regular season games this past season, racking up 93 total tackles (37 solo), four tackles for a loss, 0.5 sacks, an interception and three passes defensed.

At 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds, he’s an imposing force in the middle of the field, capable of doing a bit of everything as his position demands.
