Donte DiVincenzo Turns a Corner, But Timberwolves Face Elimination

Villanova alumnus Donte DiVincenzo provided sharp shooting off the bench for the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday, May 26, scoring the team’s third-most points with 21.
Although DiVincenzo nailed seven of 11 shots, including a blazing five of eight from beyond the arc, the Timberwolves suffered a razor-thin 128-126 loss, pushed to the brink of elimination and falling into a 1-3 hole in the Western Conference Finals.
After a rough performance in Game 1, DiVincenzo averaged 19 minutes per game, attempting just ten shots across games 2 and 3. Trusted with an increased role in Game 4, however, DiVincenzo responded with his best game of this postseason. He also recorded three rebounds, five assists and one steal.
A two-time national champion with Villanova and the Final Four Most Outstanding Player in 2018, Donte DiVincenzo also won the 2021 NBA championship Championship with the Milwaukee Bucks. His increased usage could help the Timberwolves turn a corner in the series… but with no margin for error left, they will need to mount an all-time comeback in order to stave off elimination.
Elsewhere in the NBA, Villanova alumni Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart face a 2-1 series deficit against the Indiana Pacers. The trio played with DiVincenzo during his time with the Wildcats, and Brunson and Hart suited up with him as part of the original ‘Nova Knicks’ trio last season.
