Villanova Men’s Basketball earned their first commitment of the 2026-27 transfer class, with former Oregon forwards Kwame Evans Jr. announcing his commitment to the Wildcats in a Monday, April 13 Instagram post. Evans visited Villanova on April 10 and captioned his post with the hashtag “notcommitted:” he’s since removed the hashtag, leaving “go wildcats.”

Evans stands 6-foot-10 and weighs 220 pounds, a rising senior who ranked as a top 15 recruit nationally out of high school. He spent each of the past three seasons at Oregon and started 29 games as a true freshman. Evans broke out for the best season of his career during the 2025-26 campaign, averaging 13.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per game. With a reported seven foot wingspan and natural athleticism, he’s a strong defender who can play down low or on the wing.

Evans attempted 37.6 percent of his shots from three last season, a high rate for a four-man. While he only converted on 30.9 percent of those shots and is a work in progress offensively, he has floor stretching capabilities and made 54.4 percent of his shots from two-point range. He fills one of the Wildcats’ biggest needs last season, providing strength and athleticism down low.

With Evans’ commitment, Villanova has at least nine spots open on their roster heading into next season. Click here for more transfer portal news.
