Villanova Women’s Basketball rolled to an 81-48 win over the DePaul Blue Demons on Monday, Dec. 29, making six of eight shots as they began the game on a dominant 13-0 run that belied any fear of rust after the Christmas break.

The Wildcats (11-2, 4-0 Big East) needed just 3:18 to push their lead to double digits, their run including six points from star sophomore Jasmine Bascoe. 6-foot-4 graduate transfer Kylee Watson made her first appearance since early November, picking up five points, six rebounds, four turnovers and a steal as she worked her way back up to game speed across 13 bench minutes, while Brynn McCurry led the pack with 18 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and just one turnover.

Villanova made 50 percent of their shots on the night, including a torrid 23 of 37 from two-point range. DePaul trailed 62-30 at the end of thirty minutes before a 7-of-16 showing in the final frame made things look more respectable. The Blue Demons didn’t make a single one of their 16 three-point attempts, and a 16-of-21 clip from the charity stripe kept the game from turning into an utter wash.

Now winners of nine games in a row and owners of the No. 2 spot in the Big East, the Wildcats will return home to face Creighton at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1.
