Villanova Men’s Basketball point guard Acaden Lewis earned freshman of the week honors from both the Big East Conference and the NCAA on Monday, Dec. 29, as a result of his performance in the Wildcats’ conference opener at Seton Hall on Dec. 23.

Lewis put up 16 points in a low-scoring affair, making six of 11 shots and adding five rebounds. He scored the Wildcats’ first six points, helping them weather an early storm from the Pirates.

College basketball pundit Andy Katz chose Lewis as the representative for his weekly awards, presented on behalf of NCAA March Madness. This marks Lewis’ fourth time earning freshman of the week honors from the Big East this season; redshirt freshman Matt Hodge picked up the award last week, helping the Wildcats to continue dominating the category.

Redshirt sophomore Bryce Lindsay also landed on the conference’s honor roll for his 15 point, four rebound, four assist performance at Seton Hall; Jasmine Bascoe made the women’s honor roll with 21 points and nine assists against St. John’s.

While both Villanova Men’s and Women’s Basketball rank among the top 30 in their respective NET metrics, their first chance to land in the AP Poll will come on Jan. 5 when voting resumes following the winter holidays.
