Villanova To Host WCC Shooter; Misses Out On Washington
Villanova Men’s Basketball continues to search for shooters in the current transfer class, with Dushawn London of 247Sports reporting that they’ll host Saint Mary’s guard Mikey Lewis for a weekend visit. A rising junior, Lewis averaged 13.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the Gaels last season, making 36.8 percent of his three point shots.
He also made a significant leap from freshman reserve to sophomore starter, fleshing out his game and taking 51 percent of his shots from inside the arc after serving as a spot shooter early on. Lewis visited Oregon earlier this week, per his Instagram account.
The Wildcats need a starting point guard, starting center, and evidently a shooter who will play a significant role: they’re also looking at Cornell’s Jake Fiegen and Central Arkansas’s Camren Hunter. Villanova has nine roster spots open heading into next season.
The Wildcats missed out on top 60 recruiting target Chris Washington Jr., who announced his commitment to Tennessee in a livestreamed ceremony on Thursday, April 16.
Villanova made the top five for Washington, an Alabama decommit, but reports tied Washington to the Volunteers in recent weeks and eventually proved correct.
