When the Big East ran their preseason coaches poll back in October, Villanova Men’s Basketball landed at No. 7 in the 11 team conference. Since then, the Wildcats (17-5, 8-3 Big East) have emerged as the clear No. 3 team in the conference, behind UConn and St. John’s, and are likely to end their NCAA Tournament drought at three seasons.

Villanova took down Seton Hall, their closest contender for third place, 72-60 on Wednesday, Feb. 4. The Wildcats allowed just two of the Pirates’ 17 three-point attempts to fall, and the dominant win has fans and media ready to crown new head man Kevin Willard as the Big East’s Coach of the Year.

Bench guard Malachi Palmer set a career high with 15 points as the Wildcats’ depth, a point of concern for much of the season, continues to mature, and Tyler Perkins continued his hot start to conference play, leading the field with 18 points.

Here’s the reaction from fans and media after another Wildcats win… and with their next four games against teams with a .500 or worse record in conference play, the buzz could soon turn into a roar around this Villanova team.
