Villanova Offers 6-foot-11 2029 Center Grivna
2029 center Mason Grivna picked up a trio of offers from high-major programs on Monday, May 18, including one from the Villanova Wildcats. Grivna posted about the offer on his Instagram account.
The 6-foot-11 rising sophomore attends Ballard High School in Louisville, an area Wildcats head coach Kevin Willard got to know well during close to a decade on Rick Pitino’s staff.
Currently unranked as a prospect — he won’t graduate high school for another three seasons — Grivna also holds offers from Iowa, Texas Tech, Indiana, Virginia Tech and Arizona State. He’s capable of lighting up the scoreboard, using his size to back down defenders and get to the rim.
Even without a star rating, Grivna already has international attention: per 247Sports, he’ll head to Athens, Greece to participate in the Adidas Next Generations Euroleague tournament finale later this month, then proceed to Italy for another Adidas event in June.
Versatile big men are the hottest commodity in college basketball right now and, while Grivna won’t suit up for a college team until the end of this decade, the Wildcats’ interest seems well-founded.
