Villanova Men’s Basketball moved up two spots to No. 33 in the NET rankings after their 87-73 win over the Providence Friars on Friday, Jan. 30.

While the win only counted as a Quadrant 3 opportunity for the Wildcats (16-5, 7-3 Big East) it still proved enough to give them a metrics boost. KenPom, however, kept them steady at No. 27, placing their offensive efficiency at No. 34 and their defensive efficiency at No. 36.

Villanova currently holds an 11-0 record in Quadrant 3 and 4 games, but their loss to Creighton (No. 71) will drop into that category if they fall below No. 75: the Blue Jays are amidst a 2-3 stretch with losses to the conference’s two worst teams, Providence and Marquette. Four of the Wildcats’ next five games come against teams with a .500 or worse record in Big East play, giving them an excellent opportunity to stack wins and climb back toward the top 25.

Per teamrankings.com, their tournament odds will climb north of 97 percent at the 21 win mark, so a win streak now could wrap up their tournament case before they have to play ranked teams like UConn and St. John’s again.
