Villanova in the Pros: Change of Scenery for Cam Whitmore

The Houston Rockets traded Villanova product Cam Whitmore to the Washington Wizards in return for two second round picks according to a report from ESPN insider Shams Charania.
Whitmore went one-and-done with the Wildcats, averaging 12.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game during the 2022-23 season. Houston selected him with the No. 20 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, but Whitmore never settled in to a solid role with the Rockets. Whitmore scored 0.48 points per touch during the 2024-25 season, the fourth-highest mark among qualifying players.
Despite that, Houston often kept the 6-foot-7, 230 pound forward out of the lineup as a healthy scratch. In a candid moment in early January, Whitmore expressed frustration with his role.
Now he’ll have a chance at a change of scenery in the area where he grew up. Whitmore attended Maryland’s Archbishop Spalding High School, roughly an hour outside of Washington DC.
