Villanova Football Earns Six All-American Nods
Six members of Villanova Football earned All-American nods from one or both of Stats Perform and FCS Football Central.
Graduate offensive lineman Temi Ajirotutu earned a second-team selection from Football Central, as did linebacker Shane Hartzell and kick returner Ja’briel Mace.
On the Stats Perform list, Mace landed on the First Team, but Hartzell fell to the Third Team alongside offensive tackle Stephane Voltaire.
Braden Reed (wide receiver/punt returner) and Anthony Hawkins (safety) earned Freshman All-American nods from both publications.
Here are their respective statistics:
- Ja’briel Mace: 20 kickoff returns, 674 yards, two go-ahead, game-winning touchdowns.
- Shane Hartzell: 94 total tackles (55 solo), 17.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery.
- Temi Ajirotutu and Stephane Voltaire: Villanova’s offensive line is allowing just 1.71 sacks per game and paving the way for an average of 180.8 rushing yards.
- Braden Reed: 31 receptions for 462 yards and three touchdowns, one passing touchdown; 20 punt returns for 298 yards.
- Anthony Hawkins: 54 total tackles (36 solo), 3.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, eight pass breakups and one forced fumble.
Villanova Football will host Illinois State in the semifinal round of the FCS playoffs at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20.
