Phillies Prospect Watch: Escobar Homers, Hits Aplenty in Clearwater

Phillies affiliates went 2-2 on Tuesday, May 26, with a home run from top second base prospect Aroon Escobar and hits aplenty in Single-A.

The Threshers won 10-8 with three runs in the eighth inning. First baseman Nolan Beltran went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk; catcher Alirio Ferrebus walked and hit two doubles, while center fielder Griffin Burkholder, third baseman Juan Villavicencio and left fielder Jonathan Hogart added their own doubles. Venezuelan right fielder Victor Cardoza, a 2025 Phillies international signee recently promoted from rookie ball, also doubled.

Left fielder Dylan Campbell (2-for-5 with a double) knocked in three runs for Double-A Reading in a 10-1 win. Escobar homered, as did designated hitter Austin Murr, and seven Fightin Phils reached base twice. Right-hander Braydon Tucker fired seven innings of one-run ball, fanning four batters on 84 pitches, and Alex McFarlane put up a scoreless ninth in relief.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley gave up two runs in the tenth inning on the way to a 5-4 loss. The IronPigs’ MLB-bound prospects had a down night overall, but 28-year-old third baseman Carter Kieboom hit a game-tying home run with two outs in the ninth and Felix Reyes went 2-for-4 with a walk.

High-A Jersey Shore endured a 10-2 thrashing, a solo home run from catcher Luis Caicuto one of the lone bright spots. Penn alumnus Ryan Dromboski gave up five runs in five innings, putting the BlueClaws in an early hole on a night they managed just four hits.
