Phillies Prospect Watch: Aroon Escobar Continues Hot Streak

Phillies affiliates went 1-1 on Friday, Sept. 10, with infielder Aroon Escobar continuing his late-season power surge.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley won 4-1 behind a quartet of solo home runs. Third baseman Otto Kemp (2-for-3 with a walk), first baseman Keaton Anthony (1-for-3 with a walk), catcher Payton Henry (1-for-3) and right fielder Gabriel Rincones Jr. (2-for-4) did the honors. Kemp also got thrown out on the base paths, while righty starter Chuck King allowed one run in six innings, needing just 85 pitches to complete his day as he lived by the ground ball.

Double-A Reading, who clinched their first playoff appearance since 2019 the night prior, lost 6-3. Lefty Adam Seminaris got the Fightin Phils started with six scoreless innings, striking out five batters, but the bullpen promptly gave up the 1-0 lead they inherited.

Escobar homered for the second time in three days, and right fielder Nick Biddison added a two-run blast in the seventh as Reading tried to recover. Raylin Heredia doubled twice and Dante Nori doubled once. The Phillies continued to tightly monitor shortstop Aidan Miller’s workload as he recovers from a back injury that kept him out for most of the season, giving him the night off after playing on Sept. 10.
