Phillies Prospect Watch: Alex Binelas Leaves Due to Injury

Phillies affiliates went 3-2 on Thursday, Sept. 3, with first baseman prospect Alex Binelas leaving with an injury in his third game since promotion to Triple-A.

Alan Rangel went 5.1 innings and allowed just two runs (one earned), striking out six batters on 82 pitches, but the IronPigs’ bullpen blew the game on the way to a 4-3 loss. Right fielder Gabriel Rincones Jr. (2-for-4) and first baseman Carter Kieboom (2-for-2), who took over for Binelas, both doubled. 

Double-A Reading won 10-5. Dante Nori (2-for-4 with a walk and a steal) kept up his hot streak since returning from injury; third baseman Carson DeMartini drew two walks and stole two bases. Right fielder Raylin Heredia (2-for-5 with a double and a homer) and first baseman/outfielder Austin Murr (1-for-5 with a double) each managed an extra base hit. Center fielder Pedro León added three hits, as did catcher Caleb Ricketts (3-for-4 with a walk). Phillies 2025 first round pick Gage Wood fanned ten batters in four innings, allowing two runs on 86 pitches.

High-A Jersey Shore managed six singles in a 2-1 loss. Penn graduate Ryan Dromboski earned the loss despite five innings and only one earned run allowed; a fielding error helped another cross.

Single-A Clearwater swept their doubleheader. Sean Youngerman pitched five innings of one-run ball in the opener, a 9-3 win powered with a flurry of singles and walks, while the Threshers scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk off the nightcap 6-5. Shortstop Matt Ferrara went 2-for-4 with a double, while Jack Hopko provided the winning hit.
