Hornets Waive Eric Dixon After Abbreviated Preseason
The Charlotte Hornets waived Villanova alumnus Eric Dixon on Saturday, Oct. 18 less than two weeks after signing him to an Exhibit 10 Contract. Dixon, who initially agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Lakers after going undrafted in June, but never actually inked a deal, causing the contract to fall through after he suffered a foot injury, is expected to sign with the Hornets’ G-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm.
The all-time leading scorer for Villanova Men’s Basketball, Dixon didn’t appear in any of the Hornets’ games this preseason after joining the roster as a late addition, held out of the games as a coaches decision; other games, Charlotte didn’t even have him in uniform.
If he’s able to play his way onto Charlotte’s NBA roster, he’ll reunite with former Wildcats head coach Kyle Neptune, who coached Dixon for three seasons before getting fired in March; Neptune joined the Hornets staff in August as an assistant.
