Villanova Women’s Basketball offered 2029 recruit Lyla Thompson on June 17, per a report from Loud Graphic. Thompson is a 5-foot-11 small forward who started gaining college attention before she’d ever played a high school game. George Mason got the recruiting train started with an offer in May 2025; Temple and George Washington have also offered.

Thompson currently attends Good Counsel High School (Olney, Md.) and averaged 14.2 points, 2.5 assists and 2.1 steals as a freshman on the way to first team all-conference honors. Right now, she can use her height to beat defenders and has the flexibility to both play and guard multiple positions. With three more high school seasons to work on her shooting, Thompson has plenty of time to make herself into a well-rounded threat on the wing.
