Villanova Targeting North Dakota Transfer Treysen Eaglestaff

Villanova Men’s Basketball doesn’t know who their next head coach is yet, but that hasn’t prevented the Wildcats’ involvement in the transfer portal.
The portal opened at midnight on Monday, March 24 and will remain open until April 22, with an added grace period for players on teams making a head coaching change. According to a report from On3 Sports basketball expert Joe Tipton, who cited GSL Sports Group agent George Langberg as his source, Villanova is one of roughly two dozen schools interested in the services of 6-foot-6 North Dakota shooting guard Treysen Eaglestaff.
Langberg represents Eaglestaff, a junior with one year of eligibility remaining who averaged 18.9 points and made 41.6 percent of his shots for the Fighting Hawks this season. North Dakota went 12-21 despite his efforts. Obviously, with more than 20 teams interested in Eaglestaff — including Big East foe St. John’s and blue blood programs like Kentucky, Alabama and UCLA — the Wildcats will have a tough time bringing him to the Main Line… and the difference in competition between the Summit League and the Big East is nothing to sneeze at.
With that said, the fact that Villanova is attempting to make moves in the portal despite the current absence of a head coach should prove encouraging for Wildcats fans worried they might get left behind in the shuffle… especially with all five of their starters from this past season out of eligibility.
