Villanova Reaction: Hype Building as Wildcats Win Third Straight
Villanova Men’s Basketball picked up their third win in a row on Saturday, Nov. 15, knocking off the Duquesne Dukes 87-77 at the Finneran Pavilion despite a shaky start to the game.
Freshman point guard Acaden Lewis led the Wildcats in scoring with 19 points and added six assists, while Bryce Lindsay (18 points) and Matt Hodge (15 points) also finished in double figures. Villanova picked up 21 offensive rebounds on the way to 21 second chance points, an area of attack that head coach Kevin Willard said he isolated on film heading into the game.
Now 3-1 with their lone loss coming to a top ten team more than 2,100 miles away from home, the Wildcats’ hype train is beginning to pick up steam after three straight years of missing the NCAA Tournament.
Villanova has a long way to go, as evidenced through Willard’s continued dissatisfaction with their defensive play, but things are looking up for the Wildcats. Here’s the reaction from fans and media during and after another win at the Finn.
It’s so awesome to enjoy watching Villanova basketball games again.

1.313 (thru 37min)Kevin Willard is right in that there are some things to clean up defensively, but offense is cooking.

This Villanova team appears to be much better than I anticipated.

Solid sequence by Villanova.
Acaden Lewis hits a layup, forces a Duquesne player out of bounds on the other end, Devin Askew hits three, and then Lewis again finishes it at the rim.
Villanova now leads, 35-31.
