Villanova Men’s Basketball won their sixth game in a row on Tuesday, Feb. 17, outlasting the Xavier Musketeers 92-89 in overtime thanks to late hot streaks from their guard trio of Acaden Lewis, Tyler Perkins and Bryce Lindsay, the last of whom began to break out of a six week shooting slump with clutch shooting down the stretch.

While the Wildcats (21-5, 12-3 Big East) won’t get many style points for a narrow victory over a struggling conference foe, they continue to learn how to win Big East games, a lesson that could prove pivotal as the calendar flips to March. Villanova made just 14 of 22 free throws on the night, a category that could’ve locked up the win ahead of overtime — or proved their doom — and allowed Xavier to make 34 of 67 shots, a fact sure to frustrate head coach Kevin Willard.

Nevertheless, they escaped with a win, setting the table for a duel with No. 5 UConn in South Philadelphia. Here’s the reaction from fans and media after another Villanova win.
