Villanova, Pa.— Villanova won their fourth game in a row on Saturday, Nov. 7, blanking the Richmond Spiders 30-0 and leapfrogging them in the conference standings. The shutout win marks their first since Oct. 14, 2023, when they beat Elon 21-0 at home in a driving rainstorm.

Wildcats (6-4, 5-2 Patriot League) quarterback Pat McQuaide completed 11 of 17 passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns; running back Isaiah Ragland added 125 yards on 17 carries. Richmond started sophomore Jack Callaghan at quarterback in place of prior starter Ashten Snelsire, and Callaghan struggled mightily, completing eight of 21 passes for just 60 yards. The Spiders didn’t cross midfield until the third quarter, and Villanova managed as many points as Richmond did yards (20) in the first half.

Villanova burned five minutes off the clock on their first drive of the game but stalled short of field goal range. They rebounded to score on four consecutive drives to end the half. Quarterback Pat McQuaide scampered for a 25-yard gain that set up a six-yard touchdown connection between himself and Brandon Binkowski. Dominic LeBlanc nailed a pair of field goals on a windy day, and McQuaide found Braden Reed for a 46-yard catch-and-run touchdown.

Richmond engineered a 14-play drive to open the second half that consumed seven minutes of game time, but Wildcats’ defensive back Jamie Tyson broke up a fourth down pass in the end zone to preserve the shutout.

McQuaide and Binkowski appeared to connect on a 54-yard touchdown on the following drive, but a holding penalty reversed the play… and a Richmond defender shoved Binkowski in the end zone, sparking a benches-clearing scrum that saw Villanova tight end Nolan Clayton and Richmond offensive lineman Ronald Anderson ejected.

The Wildcats’ running backs starred in the fourth quarter: Ragland became the 15th player in program history to cross the 2,000 rushing yard barrier, and Ja’briel Mace snagged a 19-yard touchdown off a wheel route.

Up next, Villanova will travel to face Holy Cross at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14.
